PROS AND CONS OF GRUNDIG’S EMERGENCY RADIOS

The most important thing in so far as emergency radios are concerned is their ability to save the situation for which their use is intended. An emergency situation is a serious situation that needs serious attention; the worst thing that could happen is to have an emergency radio that fails you at your worst time of need. The most outstanding advantage of the Grundig emergency radio is the incorporation of the dynamo crank system as this makes it workable even in the extreme situations where the conventional sources of power may fail.

Their simplicity is another plus. An emergency radio should be very easy to operate and easy to carry about. These factors have been adequately taken care of in almost all of Grundig’s emergency radio models. By any standards, a flash light is an emergency tool that cannot be ignored. Not at any cost. The ideology of an inbuilt flash light in most of the emergency radios by Grundig clearly demonstrates a clear understanding of the gravity of the matter. Almost all Grundig emergency radios have four bands and exceptionally great signal reception. This makes it possible to get updates on weather reports and even warnings incase the particular set in question features the NOAA.

A major short fall in the emergency radios should be in their long lasting preference of the lamps in their flash lights as opposed to the light emitting diode technology popularly known as LED. This feature would save the user lots of cranking energy as the set would not consume as much power if it used LED instead of the lamp which actually consumes too much voltage and current. Another short coming would be the exclusion of the crank dynamo in a bid to make the sets more modern looking. An emergency equipment should first and foremost serve its intended purpose before considering other factors and more so if the factors are only meant to add some aesthetic value. Aesthetics rarely feature in emergency situations since no one ever poses to think of being beautiful in the face of adversity. The most that could be done would be to blend the two and come up with a palatable cocktail that should be able to serve the intended purpose in the best way possible.

The other factor that may perhaps be looked into is the great discrepancy in prices between the old crank dynamo powered sets and the modern looking sets with fewer features to boast of as compared to the old crank machines. The better part of the company’s efforts should be directed at maintaining function ability and modern technology in the emergency sets from Grundig.
