THE DESIGN AND FUNCTIONS OF THE Grundig Emergency Radio
The Grundig emergency radio is designed with an outdoor thought in mind, as such it comes in very light weight of slightly more than a pound in weight and small compact size that can be sufficiently packed into its handy water resistant case for travel in case you are to take it along on a camping trip or jut to move around with if you are the type who enjoys listening to the bulletins while you walk down the country paths.
The LED flash light is conveniently fitted in the front panel of the set making sure it does not protrude provocatively outside making the set difficult to carry about. Besides its tactful tucking into the radio’s body work, it is a very useful tool in the course of an emergency either as a warning signal or as a means to lighting your way in the dark. It is interesting to note that both radio and light can run at the same time although it would automatically mean that the user has to crank the dynamo more often than it would be necessary if only one of the two was operated at one go. The outstanding design in the handle which gives the set a good grip for portability is worth some praise. Since the radio is meant to serve in emergency situations the need to carry it along, may arise occasionally prompting the need for a handle. Despite the presence of the handle on the top side of the radio, the manufacturer thought it wise to further include a carry bag with a handle to strap the radio securely to your shoulders.
Fitting the radio into the carry bag should not provide any difficulties in operation since the bag gives gaps to let the user to access the tuning knobs and the volumes and other vital knobs such as the on and off switch to give the operator an easy time in operating the set while on the move. It is interesting to note that there is also a provision for ear phones as the set has an ear phone jack is neatly and discreetly tucked at the back the crank handle is also securely tucked in the side but firmly enough to make it possible to crank the handle with sufficient force without the fear of damaging the crank handle.
The Grundig R200 emergency radio comes with a 2.5 inch inbuilt speaker which is positioned directly in the front part of the set and gives perfect audio quality which should make the radio quite audible within a reasonable perimeter.
